| What is challenging to be assigned in this place. The school is the eye window of the division among the coastal schools because other adjacent school is already belong to Albay Division. Catburawan Elementary School is headed by a Head Teacher I and the total number of nine (9) teachers; 1 kindergarten and 8 teachers handling grades I to VI classes. Out of these teachers, one Teacher III, two Teacher II, and six Teacher I. The school has two utility workers for the maintenance and other related task to perform the duties and responsibilities. The school is a public elementary school that caters to all pupils of Barangay Catburawan and other adjacent barangays like Cabarian and Badian. It offers K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum. It also implements Text to Teach Program supported by the Ayala Foundation in partnership with LGU. The school is a recipient of the E-learning package of the DCP of the government. At present the school has twelve (12) buildings, nine (9) buildings used for classroom, one (1) for the office, one (1) library and one (1) computer room. Some of the twelve classroom is not functional due to Typhoon Nona which devastated the school last December, 2015. The school resources, MOOE use as a budget for F.Y. 2015 and F.Y. 2016. PTA Fund is another source utilized for the expenses and projects of school. Other sources of fund is through solicitations and donations coming from the supportive stakeholders. Catburawan Elementary School is accessible both by land and by water. It is located at 122⁰-20ˡ North latitude and 124⁰-30ˡ East longitude. The school name was adopted in the name of the barangay which originated from “Catch Buraw” a kind of fish that goes near the seashore in school or group. The land property of school acquired through donation by former town councilor Valentine De Luna in 1938 and the rest was paid by DepEd. The exact time started is undetermined but the school conducted 53rd Graduation Exercises already. The main source of income of residents is fishing. Some residents plant vegetables as an alternative source of income. Some are labourers and others engage in a small business enterprise like sari-sari store and mini store. If fishing is not possible some members of the family tend to venture other places for just to earn for a living. Catburawan is a far - flung barangay of Ligao City with the land area of 515.15hectares having approximately 2 200 populations. It is the smallest barangay among the three coastal barangays which is 62 km away from the city proper. The way of living of inhabitants is just simple and because only few of the population belong to the middle class of society. Behind the beautiful place of Catburawan place of Catburawan is the residents who belong to the deprived families. As of march 2016, the school has a total enrolment of 338 pupils from Kindergarten to Grade VI. The trending of the enrolment is not consistent. Sometimes it is increasing and the following school year is decreasing. |
